The development of online transportation in the current modern global era has created new needs for women as a means of safe mobility without violating Islamic law for adherents of Islam. There is an online motorcycle taxi in the cities of Medan and Binjai that is sharia and specifically for women, namely Ojek Ummat, commonly called Ojum. The presence of Ojek Ummat in Medan City offers a work space for Muslim women to participate economically and generate income without any mingling with non-mahram adult men. This study aims to determine the background of the emergence of Ojek Ummat, the profile and social phenomena of gender-economic-religion in society. This study uses a qualitative research method with an ethnographic approach through participatory observation, interviews, and documentation of Ojek Ummat owners, managers, partners and users of Ojek Ummat services with a total of 18 research informants. The results show that Ojek Ummat is a need for Muslim women in Medan City for online motorcycle taxis that are only driven by women and Ojek Ummat is the first pioneer of online motorcycle taxis for Muslim women in Medan City. Ojek Ummat serves as a women and child-friendly form of public transportation, as well as a platform for women's empowerment, with a flexible work system and Sharia principles. However, operational limitations, such as the lack of a dedicated app, impact the effectiveness of Ojek Ummat's services.
