Abstract


This study is a systematic literature review aimed at investigating the role of dance in the development of self-confidence and self-esteem in elementary school students, as well as identifying effective strategies for teachers to facilitate this process. Data were collected from 42 articles selected from Scopus, DOAJ, and Google Scholar indexes, with publication dates ranging from 2014 to 2023. The research findings indicate that various dance strategies, such as dance movement psychotherapy, integration of dance into the school curriculum, K-POP dance learning, and creative dance activities, have been proven effective in enhancing students' self-confidence and self-esteem. Teachers play a crucial role in facilitating this process through direct instruction and managing a conducive learning environment. However, constraints in implementing dance strategies in the school environment, such as lack of support, training, and priority on dance education in the curriculum, were also identified. This research highlights the importance of addressing these constraints to enhance the effectiveness of dance education programs in assisting elementary school students in their self-confidence and self-esteem development.
