TEKNIK BERCERITA UNTUK MENINGKTKAN KEMAMPUAN KOSAKATA SISWA KELAS X SMA NEGERI 10 KOTA DEPOK
Abstract
Kosakata sebagai elemen vital dalam komunikasi merupakan salah satu hambatan bagi penutur bahasa kedua dan atau bahasa Asing. Untuk bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa asing, masyarakat Indonesia memiliki hambatan dalam kosakata dikarenakan kemampuan mengingat yang rendah. Hal tersebut juga dialami oleh siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 10 Depok. Pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan penguasaan kosakata bahasa Inggris bagi siswa Sekolah Menengah Atas Negeri (SMAN) 10 Depok melalui teknik bercerita. Teknik bercerita melibatka konteks yang dapat membuat siswa mampu mengingat dan memahami diksi sehingga kosakatanya akan meningkat. SMAN 10 Depok sebagai salah satu sekolah unggulan di kota Depok merupakan salah satu mitra pengabdian masyarakat program studi Sastra Inggris Universitas Pamulang. Pengabdian yang dilaksanakan selama 3 hari ini melibatkan 5 mahasiswa Sastra Inggris terpilih yang ditugaskn langsung untuk bercerita dan melakukan serangkaian aktivitas terstruktur. Hasil dari kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 10 Depok mampu menikmti teknik bercerita dan mengikuti alur cerita dengan baik walaupun kemampuan koakata masih terbatas. Hal ini dikarenakan teknik becerita melibatkan konteks yang holistic dan membantu pemahaman terhadap kosakata yang masih terasa asing. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa teknik bercerita merpakan teknik meningkatkan kosakata yang baik bagi siswa sehingga disarankan untuk para guru dalam mengajar kosakata agar dapat melibatkan konteks seerti halnya teknik bercerita.
