PENGEMBANGAN KECERDASAN EMOSIONAL SISWA UNTUK MENCEGAH PERILAKU BULLYING
Abstract
The development of modernization and globalization has given rise to various social problems. There are many deviant social behaviors and juvenile delinquency, including bullying behavior. Emotional intelligence will play a role in the development of behavior and attitudes in children. So efforts are needed to develop emotional intelligence to prevent behavioral deviations that will occur. The research method used was a qualitative method, namely an interview, discussion and documentation process. The research objects were the principal, deputy principal, several teachers and 15 students at SMPIT Mutiara Scholar Lubuk Linggau. The data analysis technique used by researchers is an interactive model including data condensation, data display and conclusion drawing. The research results show that children with emotional intelligence are vulnerable to mental health (emotions) and they are also more likely to behave aggressively. The results would be different with emotionally intelligent children using emotional calm to maintain healthy relationships when they are happy, sad, or angry. Teachers have a big role as modifiers in shaping students' character and morals, which can increase emotional intelligence. Bullying that occurs at school causes problems when teachers are not involved or ignore it. Comprehensive action is needed to prevent bullying behavior in school children. Good emotional intelligence will have a positive impact on preventing bullying attitudes or behavior among children.
