HUBUNGAN SELF ESTEEM DENGAN REGULASI EMOSI PADA SISWA SMA MUHAMMADIYAH 2 BANDAR LAMPUNG

Abstract


Self-esteem has an important role in the regulation of students' emotions. Low self-esteem can affect students' ability to manage and regulate emotions, effective regulation of emotions requires a high level of self-esteem. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-esteem and student emotional regulation. The population of this study is all students of SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Bandar Lampung as many as 795 students, with a sample of 90 students selected using the Probability Random Sampling technique. The research method uses quantitative methods. Self esteem is measured using the CSEI scale (The Coopersmith Self Esteem Inventory) which has been modified by Ryden, and the regulation uses  the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire  scale from Gross. Data analysis was carried out using Spearman's rank correlation. The results of the study showed that there was a positive relationship with the level of strong correlation between self-esteem and emotional regulation, with a standard correlation coefficient of 0.445. This indicates that the higher the student's self-esteem level, the better the emotion regulation, conversely, the lower the student's self-esteem level, the worse the emotion regulation.
