GAME ONLINE DAN DAMPAKNYA: VERBAL ABUSE DIKALANGAN REMAJA
Abstract
Game online menjadi salah satu hiburan yang diminati para remaja akan tetapi penggunaan game online yang berlebihan memberikan kehawatiran akan dampak negatif yang ditimbulkannya berupa verbal abuse. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan antara kecanduan game online dan perilaku verbal abuse di kalangan remaja. Sampel penelitian ini melibatkan 134 remaja berusia 12 hingga 21 tahun yang dipilih dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan skala Internet Gaming Disorder dan Verbal Aggressiveness Scale (IGD) yang dikembangkan oleh Pontes & Griffith dan Verbal Agressivenes Scale dari Infante & Wigley. Teknik analisis yang digunakan adalah teknik regresi linier. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan korelasi positif yang signifikan antara kecanduan game online dan perilaku verbal abuse (r = 0,453, p < 0,01), dengan pengaruh sebesar 20,5% dari variabel kecanduan game online terhadap perilaku verbal abuse. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa peningkatan kecanduan game online di kalangan remaja berkontribusi terhadap kecenderungan perilaku verbal abuse.
