Abstract

ABSTRACT

The purpose of the research is to compare the mean of student’s learning outcomes using problem based learning model and conventional learning on heat and temperature topic  at 2nd semester in class X SMA N 1 Siborongborong. The research method is quasy experiment and the population is all students at class X consist of 9 classes. The sample of this research define by cluster random sampling are class X-6 as experimental class and class X-8 as control class, each class consist of  35 students. The outcomes collect by essay test consist 10 questions. The result is obtained the average value in experimental class after given treatment is 26.90 and deviation standard in experimental class is 8.20 and the average value in control class is 23.70 and deviation standard is 9.20. Hypothesis test result for posttest data is tcount > ttabel = 1.68  > 1.66 with = 0.05 so alternative hypothesis accepted, it can be concluded that the student’s learning outcomes using problem based learning model is greater than conventional learning.
