Abstract

This study aimed to determine the feasibility, practicality, and effectiveness of an educational Scrabble medium infused with local Medan vocabulary in improving Indonesian vocabulary mastery among third-grade students at SDN 104206 Sei Rotan. This study used a Research and Development (R&D) approach with the ADDIE model, comprising analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The subjects consisted of three validators and 20 third-grade students. Data were collected through validation questionnaires and essay-based pre-test and post-test, then analyzed using average validation percentages and the N-Gain formula. The results showed that the media was rated highly feasible by the media expert (96%), the test-instrument expert (94%), and an education practitioner (98%), and was considered highly practical (98%). The effectiveness test showed that students' average score increased from 57.45 (pre-test) to 81.60 (post-test), with an average N-Gain of 0.54 (moderate category), while classical mastery rose from 30% to 100%. These findings indicate that the developed media is feasible, practical, and effective for teaching Indonesian vocabulary. Teachers are encouraged to use this Scrabble-based educational media as an innovative, contextual, and enjoyable alternative for vocabulary instruction in elementary schools.
