Journal History
JUPIIS HISTORY
- JUPIIS: JOURNAL OF SOCIAL SCIENCES EDUCATION was first published in 2008 in June in print form, published twice a year in June and December)
- JUPIIS: JOURNAL OF SOCIAL SCIENCES EDUCATION already has 5 printed volumes (10 numbers/issues) and was then registered for its print ISSN on January 19, 2012.
- Since February 2012, the journal at Universitas Negeri Medan has only used OJS (Open Journal System) one of the software for open access journals.
- At that time, its management could not yet be fully implemented in accordance with the correct OJS governance, due to the limited number of experts who were able to manage it.
- Even so, JUPIIS: JOURNAL OF SOCIAL SCIENCES EDUCATION has maintained its print edition since 2008 to 2020.
- In addition to not fully uploading in accordance with OJS provisions, which is still quicksubmit, JUPIIS: JOURNAL OF SOCIAL SCIENCE EDUCATION has also not maintained its consistency in uploading its published article volumes to OJS.
- Then in 2012, the improvement of the Mercatoria Journal began from the OJS display which was gradually fulfilled and equipped with the provisions for writing journal articles in accordance with the JUPIIS environment.
- Although it has begun to be completed, the procedure for publishing articles is still not in accordance with the proper OJS governance.
- The method used is still quicksubmit, and is combined manually and via email by its reviewers.
- This means that, despite all its shortcomings, JUPIIS has been publishing open access since 2012.
- Since 2018, JUPIIS has achieved its first accreditation with a sinta 3 predicate, stated in Decree No. 30/E/KPT/2018. Since then, management has been carried out better by involving various parties as qualifyed editors, section editors and reviewers from national universities.
- After making improvements and improvements to the quality of articles, in 2020 JUPIIS attempted to increase its accreditation rating, but remained at the Sinta 3 accreditation rating through Decree No. 148/M/KPT/2020.
- Starting from April 2025, JUPIIS migrated from OJS 2 to OJS 3 as a form of adjustment to technological developments and online journal websites. Adjustments were also made seriously to improve the quality of publications, thus providing a positive contribution to the world of science, especially social sciences.
- The future plan is to maintain its consistency in publishing its articles in accordance with the appropriate OJS governance.
