AUTHOR GUIDELINES

PARADIKMA: JURNAL PENDIDIKAN MATEMATIKA (PJPM)

PJPM is a semi-annual peer-reviewed journal that publishes manuscripts in the field of mathematics education. Manuscripts sent to journal editors are research articles or literature review concepts that have never been published elsewhere. Authors must consider the focus and scope of the journal required. Submitted article manuscripts include the author's name, author affiliation, and e-mail address for the corresponding author. The article writing must comply with the standard of English academic Grammar.

SUBMISSION

Article manuscripts must be submitted via Online Submissions in Open Journal Systems page, not via e-mail or any other application on a smartphone. Online submission is available by log in to author’s account. In order to have an account the author needs to register first. The preferred format for the manuscript submission is Word (.doc, .docx, .odt, .rtf, .txt). Special characters may not be included in the file name of the main manuscript file. Submissions by anyone other than one of the authors will not be accepted. The submitting author is responsible for the manuscript during submission and peer review. For technical assistance, please contact paradikmajpm@unimed.ac.id.

TERMS OF SUBMISSION

The manuscript must be original and has never been published or submitted elsewhere. The submitting author is responsible in ensuring that all other co-authors approve the manuscript publication and in providing all necessary institutional approvals. The date of acceptance is set officially only by the acknowledgment of the editorial office. Unless otherwise stated, correspondence and further evidence will be sent to the authors before publication. It is a condition of submission that the author permits editing of the manuscript for easy reading. All questions regarding the publication of accepted manuscripts should be addressed to paradikmajpm@unimed.ac.id. PJPM's terms of service are binding on all offers.

PEER REVIEW

All submitted articles are subject to assessment and peer review to ensure editorial appropriateness and technical correctness. Prior to a manuscript article be accepted for publication, the assigned editor will first consider if the manuscript meets the minimum editorial standards and fits within the journal's focus and scope. In case that a manuscript meets the standards, the editor will ideally solicit at least two peer reviewers (who will remain anonymous to the authors unless they choose to disclose their identity by signing the review report) to assess the article before confirming a decision to accept. The decision to reject a manuscript is at the discretion of the editor. Our research integrity team occasionally seeks advice outside standard peer review, for example, on submissions with serious ethical, security, biosecurity, or societal implications. We may consult experts and the editor before deciding on appropriate actions, including but not limited to recruiting reviewers with specific expertise, assessment by additional editors, and declining to consider a submission further.

TEMPLATE

We recommend you work with the template.docx we provided and not use other templates.

MANUSCRIPT LENGTH

We encourage you to follow the word count length of your articles closely. Manuscript length of at least 5 pages and a maximum of 15 pages includes the main part of the text, footnotes, and all citations therein, including abstracts, section titles, figures and table captions, statements of funding, acknowledgements, and references in the bibliography.

LANGUAGE

PJPM requires manuscripts submitted to meet international English language standards to be considered for publication.

TITLE

The title should be concise, omitting implicit terms and, where possible, be a statement of the main result or conclusion presented in the manuscript. Abbreviations should be avoided within the title. Title Using Times New Roman, Size 14pt, Maximum 15 Words, Bold (Spacing: Before: 6pt, After: 0 pt, Line Spacing: Single).

AUTHORS, AFFILIATIONS AND CORRESPONDENCE

All names are listed together and separated by commas. Provide exact and correct author names as these will be indexed in official archives (size 11pt, Spacing: Before and After: 12pt, Line Spacing: Single). Affiliations should be keyed to the author's name with superscript numbers and be listed as follows:

  • Department, Institute/Organization, and Country

Example: 1Department of Mathematics Education, Universitas Negeri Medan, Indonesia

  • The corresponding author(s) should be marked with an asterisk in the author list. Provide the exact contact email address of the corresponding author(s) in a separate section.

ABSTRACT

The abstract must be in one paragraph consisting of 150-300 words, with Times New Roman font type with size 10pt. The abstract contains a summary of at least (1) research objectives, (2) research methods, and (3) research results. This document guides authors to write papers ready to be published in journals, and authors should follow the instructions given in this guide.

KEYWORDS

Keywords of the article require a minimum of four and a maximum of six keywords.

TEXT

All documents must be single-spaced and contain no page and line numbers to facilitate the review process. Manuscripts must be written using Word. See above for templates.

NOMENCLATURE

The use of abbreviations should be kept to a minimum. Non-standard abbreviations should be avoided unless they appear at least four times, and must be defined upon first use in the main text. Consider also giving a list of non-standard abbreviations at the end, immediately before the acknowledgments.

SECTIONS

The manuscript is organized by headings and subheadings. The section headings should be those appropriate for your field and the research itself. You may insert up to 5 heading levels into your manuscript (i.e.,: 3.2.2.1.2 Heading Title).

Introduction (11pt)
Succinct, with no subheadings. The paper size must match the A4 page size, which is 210mm wide (8.27 ") and 297mm long (11.69") with the margin set as follows: Top = 2 cm, Bottom = 2 cm,  Left = 2 cm, Right = 2 cm. Writing articles must be in a one-column format, at least 5 pages. The format you should follow is the beginning of the paragraph is indented by 0.5 cm. The font used is Times New Roman, 11pt. It is recommended to write mathematical formulas using Mathtype or the Equation Editor on Ms. Word.

Research Methods (11pt)
This section may be divided by subheadings and should contain sufficient detail so that the entire procedure can be repeated when read in conjunction with cited references. For more information, see the template.

Result and Discussion (11pt)
Results
This section may be divided by subheadings. Footnotes should not be used and must be transferred to the main text.

Discussion
This section may be divided by subheadings. Discussions should cover the key findings of the study: discuss any prior research related to the subject to place the novelty of the discovery in the appropriate context, discuss the potential shortcomings and limitations on their interpretations, discuss their integration into the current understanding of the problem and how this advances the current views, speculate on the future direction of the research, and freely postulate theories that could be tested in the future.

Acknowledgements
This is a short text to acknowledge the contributions of specific colleagues, institutions, or agencies that aided the efforts of the authors. Should the content of the manuscript have previously appeared online, such as in a thesis or preprint, this should be mentioned here, in addition to listing the source within the reference list.

Figure and table guidelines
Typing Figure  in bold and the title of the figure is typed left aligned. Figures are numbered sequentially according to the order in which they appear in the text. Figures cannot be framed and must be in high resolution. Figure reference sources are placed below the figure, with a 10pt font size. The figure narration is placed before the image. The narration is not a repetition of the contents of the narrated images but adapted to the objectives of the research. Image placement is 1 column at the top or bottom of the writing, it cannot be in the middle of the writing.

Tables are typed with single spacing and numbered according to the order of appearance in the text. Laying table narration is before the table. The narration is not a repetition of the table contents that are narrated but adapted to the study's objectives. The placement of the table is 1 column at the top or bottom of the writing; it cannot be in the middle of the writing. The table displays only horizontal lines. Table cutting is permitted if it exceeds one page on the condition that the table has started from the top and is insufficient to require additional space, and further information is provided at the head of the table. Writing decimal numbers, two decimal places. The data presented in the table is typed in a 10pt font size. Table reference sources are placed below the table with a 11pt font size.

Citations and References
Citations briefly identify the source of the loan information, trophies, and figures in the text. Quotations should be placed at the borrowed information's beginning, middle or end. It should be clear what information was borrowed and where it came from, including page references where possible. Short citation matches the first word in an entry in the reference list; author or title serves as the main entry in the reference list. The PJM citation format in the manuscript pays attention to the second name followed by the year of publication; for one author, for example, "Alberto (1993)", while for two authors, write "Alberto and Jun (1992)" or "Alberto & Jun (1992)". If there are three or more authors, write “Alberto et al. (1990)” with a note: dot after 'al.' not after 'et'. Authors should also consider the following conditions if the in-text citation format includes page numbers. For single reference page numbers, use the abbreviation "p." whereas if there are multiple pages, use "pp." Example: Russeffendi (2005, p. 52) suggests that in a quasi-experimental study, the subject groups are not random, but the researcher accepts the conditions of the subjects as they are.

The reference list contains a complete description of only the sources cited in the paper. This allows the reader to find sources cited in the article. References are placed in alphabetical order at the end of the paper. Writing text references according to the rules of APA Manual 6th Edition. The maximum number of references is 30 sources, provided that at least 80% of the references come from journals published in the last five years, while the remaining 20% can come from books published ten years earlier or other sources that are still relevant. All references or quotes referred to in the text of the article must be present or listed in the reference list. Authorities use APA 6th Edition Style rules. Reference writing is recommended using a reference application such as Mendeley. Writing references in text at least 8 and a maximum of 30. References are prioritized from the latest journals (80% of the latest journals and 20% from other sources such as books, theses, dissertations, reports, and regulations with year rules still relevant). Include the author's last name and first initial. Maximum 6 people, followed by three dots ("…"), followed by the last author's name. The website address can only be listed on sources from official web pages, while other sources, if any, can be their doi addresses. The format the author must follow for the second line of references must be indented by 0.5 cm, while the spacing after using 6pt. Authors are advised to use assistive applications for reference management, such as Mendeley, Endnote, etc

(For more information, see the template)
