PENERAPAN PEMAGARAN ADVERBIA PADA PIDATO PRESIDEN BILL CLINTON DALAM ANCANGAN MATERI PERSUASIVE TEXT DI UNIVERSITAS NEGERI MEDAN

Abstract


Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil pembelajaran mahasiswa semester dua (2) program studi pendidikan bahasa Inggris di Universitas Negeri Medan (UNIMED) pada mata kuliah Contextual Written Language Skills (CWLS), khususnya materi persuasive text dengan menerapkan pemagaran adverbia pada pidato Presiden Amerika Serikat sebagai ancangan materi pembelajaran. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori pemagaran Hyland (1996a, 1996b, 1998a, 1998b). Metode yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan eksploratif dengan menggunakan kuesioner, wawancara semi struktur dan penugasan sebagai instrumennya. Sumber data penelitian yaitu duapuluh dua (22) pidato Presiden Bill Clinton dari tahun 1993-2001 dari situs berita daring millercentre.org. Hasil temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) pemagaran adverbia pada pidato Presiden Bill Clinton bertujuan untuk meyakinkan publik terkait kebijakan pemerintah, (2) pembelajaran CWLS dengan pemagaran adverbia dapat meningkatkan keterampilan menulis teks persuasif mahasiswa semester 2 pendidikan bahasa Inggris di UNIMED.
