From Mining Pits to Eco-tourism: The Role of Tourism Awareness Groups in Fostering Environmental Citizenship in Bangka Belitung

This research aims to describe the role of the tourism awareness group in the effort to restore post-tin mining land as a manifestation of environmental citizenship implementation. Tin mining activities in the Bangka Belitung Islands cause negative impacts in the form of abandoned mining pits that have not undergone proper and ideal reclamation processes. This research focuses on the study of the role of tourism awareness groups in the post-mining land rehabilitation process as a form of environmental citizenship in Pading Lake, Perlang Village. The research was conducted using a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data collection was conducted through observation, purposive sampling interviews, and also supported by document studies. The results of this study found that the tourism awareness group plays a role not only as managers of the tourist area but also as a driving force in raising environmental awareness and the collective responsibility of the community towards ecosystem sustainability. These activities align with the concept of environmental citizenship, characterised by individual and collective awareness to protect and care for the surrounding environment
