Traditional Kokoleceran Game for Strengthening Civic Culture and Preserving Local Wisdom Among Generation Alpha

The rapid development of digital technology has shifted Generation Alpha’s play patterns away from traditional games, raising concerns about the preservation of local wisdom and civic culture. This study describes the practice of kokoleceran as an effort to preserve local wisdom and analyzes the civic culture values emerging among Generation Alpha in Cibuluh Tourism Village, Subang Regency. The study employed a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through semi-structured interviews, moderate participant observation, and documentation involving five Generation Alpha children, one community leader, and one tourism village manager. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, supported by triangulation. The findings show that kokoleceran continues to be introduced and actively played through family, peer, and community interactions. Making and playing the game fosters civic culture values such as togetherness, cooperation, participation, and social awareness. The game serves as a natural medium for cultural preservation and encourages direct interaction and cooperation among children. Therefore, traditional games should continue to be introduced through families, communities, and educational programs.
