IMPLEMENTASI MEDIA GAMBAR UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KETERAMPILAN BERPIKIR KRITIS SISWA DALAM MENULIS TEKS DESKRIPSI DI KELAS IV SDN 106161 LAUT DENDANG
Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of implementing image-based media on students' critical thinking skills when writing descriptive texts in the fourth-grade class at SDN 106161 Laut Dendang. The study employs a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design—specifically, the Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The research subjects consisted of 30 fourth-grade students divided into an experimental group and a control group, with 15 students in each. Data collection was conducted through tests and observations. Test instruments were used to measure students' critical thinking skills in writing descriptive texts before and after the intervention, while observations were used to assess the implementation of instruction using image-based media. The results showed that the experimental group's average pretest score of 59.83 rose to 86.17 in the posttest, whereas the control group's average posttest score was 73.50. Hypothesis testing revealed a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.000 (< 0.05), indicating a significant effect of implementing image-based media on students' critical thinking skills in writing descriptive texts. Furthermore, N-Gain analysis showed that the experimental group achieved an average score of 0.6603, which was higher than the control group's 0.3389. Thus, the implementation of image-based media is effective for Indonesian language instruction—particularly for writing descriptive texts—as it enhances students' critical thinking skills by facilitating activities that involve observing, analyzing, and developing ideas in a more concrete manner.
