About the Journal

Jurnal Pendidikan Kimia (JPKim) is an internationally recognized peer-reviewed academic journal focused on publishing original research, theoretical studies, and reviews in the fields of Chemistry Education and Chemistry. Established in 2009 by the Postgraduate Program of Universitas Negeri Medan, Indonesia, JPKim serves as a significant platform for disseminating scientific knowledge that bridges the gap between chemistry teaching methodologies, educational practices, and advancements in the chemical sciences.

The journal publishes three issues annually—in April, August, and December—ensuring a regular and timely release of new scholarly content. As a high-impact journal, JPKim adheres to rigorous academic standards, ensuring the publication of well-reviewed, high-quality research in every issue.

Since 2016, JPKim has been a member of CrossRef, providing Digital Object Identifiers (DOI) for all its articles from Volume 8, Issue 3 (December 2016). To maintain academic integrity, the journal uses Turnitin for plagiarism checking, implemented from Volume 12, Issue 3 (December 2020).

Jurnal Pendidikan Kimia (JPKim) is accredited by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, with accreditation validity from April 2022 to August 2026 (Decree No. 204/E/KPT/2022). The journal holds SINTA 2 accreditation, further underscoring its scholarly value.

The journal is indexed in several national and international databases, enhancing its global visibility and providing readers with access to cutting-edge research in chemical education and the broader chemistry field.

Focus and Scope

The Jurnal Pendidikan Kimia (JPKim) is co-published by the Postgraduate Program of Universitas Negeri Medan and Indonesian Chemical Society. Launched in 2009. JPKim publishes peer-reviewed articles and related information as a resource to those in the field of chemistry and chemical education and to those institutions that serve them. The journal typically addresses chemical content, laboratory experiments, instructional methods, and pedagogies. JPKim serves as a means of communication among people across the world who are interested in the chemistry, teaching, and learning of chemistry.

The criteria for a publishable manuscript include these areas of evaluation: scholarship, novelty, pedagogy, utility, and presentation. To be considered for publication by the Jurnal Pendidikan Kimia, a manuscript must:
