Abstract


Abstract: This study aims to describe improving the ability of classroom teachers and student learning participation in carrying out online learning using the WhatsApp Messenger Group application at SD Negeri 137101 Tanjungbalai for the 2020/2021 school year. This research is a school action research (action research) using a cycle design. The research was conducted at SD Negeri 137101 Tanjungbalai from August to November 2020. The subjects of this study were 6 (six) class teachers and 124 (one hundred and twenty four) students at SD Negeri 137101 Tanjungbalai. This research was conducted through the use of the WhatsApp Messenger Group application during online learning. The data collection technique was carried out with the rubric for assessing the ability of teachers to carry out online learning and the rubric for assessing student learning participation. The results showed that; 1) the use of the WhatsApp Messenger Group application can improve the ability of classroom teachers in carrying out online learning from Cycle I to Cycle II with a percentage of completeness from 67% to 100% so as to achieve success indicators in Cycle II; 2) the use of the WhatsApp Messenger Group application can increase students' active participation in online learning from Cycle I to Cycle II with the percentage of active student participation from 57.3% to 86.3% so as to achieve success indicators in Cycle II.

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan peningkatan kemampuan guru kelas dan partisipasi belajar siswa dalam melaksanakan pembelajaran daring menggunakan aplikasi WhatsApp Messenger Group di SD Negeri 137101 Tanjungbalai tahun pelajaran 2020/2021. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan sekolah (action research) dengan menggunakan desain siklus. Penelitian dilaksanakan di SD Negeri 137101 Tanjungbalai pada bulan Agustus sampai dengan November 2020. Subyek penelitian ini adalah 6 (enam) orang guru kelas dan 124 (seratus dua puluh empat) orang siswa SD Negeri 137101 Tanjungbalai. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan melalui penggunaan aplikasi WhatsApp Messenger Group selama pembelajaran daring. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan rubrik penilaian kemampuan guru melaksanakan pembelajaran daring dan rubrik penilaian partisipasi belajar siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa; 1) penggunaan aplikasi WhatsApp Messenger Group dapat meningkatkan kemampuan guru kelas dalam melaksanakan pembelajaran daring dari Siklus I ke Siklus II dengan persentase ketuntasan dari 67% menjadi 100% sehingga mencapai indikator keberhasilan pada Siklus II; 2) penggunaan aplikasi WhatsApp Messenger Group dapat meningkatkan partisipasi aktif siswa dalam pembelajaran daring dari Siklus I ke Siklus II dengan persentase partisipasi aktif siswa 57,3% menjadi 86,3% sehingga mencapai indikator keberhasilan pada Siklus II.
