Journal History
ALTRUISTIK has developed through a journey shaped by academic commitment, institutional growth, technological adaptation, and continuous improvement. The journal serves as a scholarly forum focusing on Guidance and Counseling and Educational Psychology, while encouraging critical discussion of contemporary issues from diverse academic perspectives. The name ALTRUISTIK reflects the spirit of altruism and the commitment to contributing meaningfully to others and to the wider academic community. Altruistic Journal Journey
The journal officially began its publication journey in June 2021 with E-ISSN 2798-3773 and P-ISSN 2798-3765. During its early development, ALTRUISTIK expanded its academic visibility through Google Scholar, strengthened its publication infrastructure through Crossref membership and DOI registration, and continued improving the consistency and presentation of its journal template.
In June 2022, ALTRUISTIK further strengthened its professional network through collaboration with the Indonesian Guidance and Counseling Association (ABKIN). This collaboration contributed to the journal's continued development as an academic platform within the field of guidance and counseling.
An important milestone was reached in November 2024, when ALTRUISTIK obtained SINTA 4 accreditation based on the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education, Research and Technology Number 177/E/KPT/2024 concerning the accreditation ranking of scientific journals for Period II of 2024. This achievement represented formal recognition of the journal's continuing efforts to strengthen the quality, consistency, and governance of its scholarly publishing practices.
In January 2025, ALTRUISTIK entered a significant phase of technological transformation by upgrading its journal management platform from Open Journal Systems (OJS) 2 to OJS 3. The transition required extensive technical and administrative adjustments. Because several publication records could not be transferred automatically, article metadata, author information, publication details, and other essential records had to be reviewed, reorganized, and transferred manually to ensure the continuity and accuracy of the journal's digital archive.
From March 2025 to June 2026, ALTRUISTIK experienced a particularly challenging period involving repeated external disruptions to its digital environment. These circumstances affected the stability of the journal management system and required considerable technical attention, administrative restructuring, and data verification. The editorial team therefore had to focus on restoring system reliability, reviewing account-related information, reorganizing publication records, and strengthening the overall management of the journal platform.
These technical circumstances also affected ALTRUISTIK's institutional agenda. As a result, the journal was unable to participate in the 2026 Scientific Journal Accreditation Period I. Although this represented a temporary setback, the experience became an important turning point in strengthening the journal's digital governance, data management practices, system preparedness, and long-term publication sustainability.
Throughout the recovery process, the editorial team remained committed to maintaining the continuity of the journal. Particular attention was given to improving system organization, strengthening administrative procedures, reviewing publication data, and creating a more reliable editorial workflow.
Since June 2026, ALTRUISTIK has returned to normal and stable operations. Manuscript submission, editorial management, peer-review activities, publication processes, and journal administration have resumed within a more structured and reliable environment. The experience has also encouraged the journal to place greater emphasis on technological preparedness, data integrity, sustainable management, and continuous quality improvement.
Today, the journey of ALTRUISTIK represents more than a sequence of publication milestones. It reflects a continuing process of growth, adaptation, resilience, and academic commitment. From its establishment in 2021, professional collaboration, national accreditation, technological transition, institutional challenges, and subsequent recovery, ALTRUISTIK continues to advance its mission as a credible scholarly platform for the development of knowledge in Guidance and Counseling, Educational Psychology, and related fields.
