Post-Publication Discussion Policy
Post-Publication Discussion Policy
Altruistik: Jurnal Konseling dan Psikologi Pendidikan recognizes that scholarly communication continues beyond the publication of research articles. Post-publication discussion provides opportunities for authors, readers, researchers, practitioners, and the academic community to raise questions, offer constructive criticism, clarify research findings, and contribute to the ongoing evaluation of published scholarly work.
The journal encourages respectful, evidence-based academic dialogue to advance knowledge, promote scientific accountability, and maintain the integrity of published research in Guidance and Counseling, Educational Psychology, and related disciplines.
1. Purpose and Scope
Post-publication discussion allows members of the academic and professional community to critically examine research articles after publication.
Relevant contributions may include:
- Questions concerning research design, methodology, instruments, data analysis, interpretation, or conclusions.
- Evidence-based comments that clarify, critically evaluate, or extend previously published findings.
- Identification of potential errors, inconsistencies, methodological limitations, or issues affecting research interpretation.
- Discussion of the theoretical, educational, psychological, or practical implications of published research.
- Recommendations for further investigation or alternative interpretations supported by appropriate evidence and scholarly references.
All contributions must relate directly to the published article and aim to improve scientific understanding. Post-publication discussion must not be used to pursue personal disputes or present unsupported allegations as established facts.
2. Submission of Comments
Readers wishing to submit comments or scholarly responses concerning a published article may contact the editorial office through the official communication channels provided on the journal website.
Submissions should clearly identify the article under discussion, including its title and relevant publication information, and explain the purpose and substance of the comments.
Contributors should provide appropriate supporting evidence, references, or relevant documentation when necessary.
The editorial team may request clarification, additional information, or revisions before determining whether a contribution is suitable for publication or further editorial consideration.
3. Editorial Assessment
The editorial team evaluates post-publication contributions according to their relevance, scholarly significance, clarity, supporting evidence, and compliance with the journal's publication ethics standards.
Depending on the nature and complexity of the comments, editors may seek an independent expert opinion or invite the authors of the original article to provide clarification or a response.
The journal may accept a contribution, request revisions, or decline publication when the submission does not meet the applicable scholarly or ethical requirements.
Editorial decisions are based on academic merit, relevance, evidence, and ethical considerations. Submission of a post-publication comment does not guarantee its publication.
4. Right of Reply
When a post-publication contribution raises substantive questions or criticism concerning a published article, the journal may invite the original authors to respond.
Authors are encouraged to address the issues raised in a professional, constructive, and evidence-based manner.
Where appropriate, accepted comments and author responses may be published together or linked to the original article to provide readers with a balanced and comprehensive understanding of the academic discussion.
The opportunity to respond does not prevent the journal from conducting an independent assessment of concerns affecting the reliability or integrity of published research.
5. Ethical Standards and Professional Conduct
All participants in post-publication discussion are expected to maintain professional conduct, academic integrity, mutual respect, and compliance with the journal's publication ethics policies.
Comments must be accurate, relevant, respectful, and supported by appropriate scholarly evidence.
The journal does not accept contributions containing:
- Personal attacks, harassment, discriminatory language, or abusive statements.
- Unsupported allegations of research or publication misconduct presented as established facts.
- Plagiarized material or unauthorized use of another person's intellectual property.
- Confidential information disclosed without proper authorization.
- Commercial advertising, promotional material, or content unrelated to the published article.
Concerns involving possible research misconduct, ethical violations, data integrity, or publication irregularities should be submitted to the editorial office with relevant supporting information.
Such concerns will be assessed through the journal's established procedures for handling publication ethics matters.
6. Corrections, Expressions of Concern, and Retractions
When post-publication comments raise credible concerns regarding the accuracy, reliability, validity, or ethical integrity of a published article, Altruistik will assess the available information and determine whether further editorial action is necessary.
Depending on the nature and outcome of the assessment, appropriate actions may include publishing a correction, issuing an expression of concern, or retracting the article in accordance with the journal's correction and retraction policies.
A post-publication comment or allegation does not automatically establish that an article contains an error or should be retracted.
Editorial action will be based on an appropriate evaluation of the available evidence and relevant publication ethics principles.
7. Transparency and Publication
When post-publication comments or author responses are accepted for publication, the journal will seek to provide sufficient bibliographic information and, where technically feasible, establish a clear connection to the original article.
Published discussions should allow readers to understand the scholarly context, the issues raised, and any corresponding author responses.
Altruistik is committed to transparency in post-publication communication while respecting confidentiality, applicable legal requirements, intellectual property rights, and the legitimate interests of all parties involved.
The journal may determine the appropriate form of publication or editorial communication according to the nature and significance of each contribution.
8. Contacting the Editorial Office
Questions, scholarly comments, requests for clarification, or concerns regarding published articles may be submitted through the official editorial contact information available on the Altruistik website.
Correspondence should include the title of the article, relevant publication details, a clear explanation of the questions or concerns, and supporting evidence or references when available.
The editorial team will assess submissions according to their scholarly relevance, available evidence, and applicable journal policies.
Through this policy, Altruistik seeks to encourage responsible scholarly dialogue, support continuous academic evaluation, and strengthen the transparency, credibility, and integrity of research publication in Guidance and Counseling and Educational Psychology.
