About the Journal

Journal of Architecture and Spatial Planning (JASP) is an international open-access journal that publishes high-quality research articles, reviews, and theoretical contributions in the fields of architecture, urban design, and spatial planning. The journal is published biannually (February and July) and seeks to provide an academic platform for researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to exchange knowledge and develop innovative solutions for contemporary urban and regional challenges.

SCOPE

JASP welcomes original contributions that address, but are not limited to, the following areas:

  1. Architectural Design and Spatial Form: typology, morphology, spatial composition, and public space design.
  2. Urban Design and Contemporary City Planning: urban waterfronts, open spaces, and city visual identity
  3. Sustainable and Resilient Urban Planning: green city strategies, ecological integration, mixed-use planning, and urban resiliency.
  4. Technological Innovations in the Built Environment: BIM, spatial modeling, urban analytics, and sustainable construction.
  5. Human-Centered Urbanism: inclusive design, social interaction in cities, and spatial user experience.
  6. Urban Policy, Culture, and Transformation: heritage conservation, regeneration of historic areas, gentrification, spatial justice, and socio-cultural change.

AIM & CONTRIBUTION

JASP aims to:

  1. Advance theoretical and practical knowledge in architecture and spatial planning.
  2. Offer innovative insights into pressing urban issues, including rapid urbanization, climate change, sustainable mobility, and socio-spatial transformation.
  3. Serve as an academic reference and professional resource for scholars, practitioners, and policymakers worldwide.

PUBLICATION ETHICS AND GUIDELINES

  1. Ethical Guidelines for Journal Publication: JASP is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics, in line with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
  2. Publication Decisions: Editors are responsible for selecting manuscripts based on academic merit, originality, relevance, and clarity, as supported by peer review reports. Decisions are made without discrimination regarding the authors’ background, nationality, or institutional affiliation.
  3. Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Authors must disclose any financial or personal conflicts of interest that could affect the interpretation of their work. Editors and reviewers must recuse themselves from handling manuscripts with potential conflicts of interest.
  4. Duties of Reviewers: Reviewers play a critical role in maintaining academic quality by: (a) Providing objective and constructive evaluations; (b) Offering recommendations to improve clarity, rigor, and originality; (c) Maintaining confidentiality of the manuscript content; (d) Avoiding conflicts of interest with authors or subject matter.

CONTRIBUTION TO EDITORIAL DECISION
Reviewers assist editors in making informed publication decisions by providing independent, evidence-based assessments. Their constructive feedback also helps authors enhance their manuscripts to meet international academic standards.
