The Role of Teachers in Managing Student Discipline and Conduct in Elementary Schools

Abstract

Discipline is one of the important aspects in shaping students’ character at the elementary school level. Teachers play a significant role in developing students’ discipline through guidance, exemplary behavior, supervision, and the implementation of school regulations. This study aims to describe the role of teachers in realizing student discipline in elementary schools. The study employed a descriptive quantitative approach. The research subject was the principal of SD Islam Al Ulum, who assessed the role of teachers in implementing student discipline at school. Data were collected using a questionnaire based on a Likert scale consisting of four response categories: Strongly Agree, Agree, Disagree, and Strongly Disagree. The data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative techniques through frequency and percentage calculations. The results showed that the role of teachers in realizing student discipline was categorized as very good, with 90% of responses in the Strongly Agree category and 10% in the Agree category. Teachers actively contribute by providing good role models, guiding students, supervising behavior, and instilling disciplinary values. Therefore, teachers play an important role in shaping students’ disciplinary character and creating an orderly and conducive learning environment in elementary schools.
