Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Author Guidelines

1. General Information

Jurnal Merah Putih Sekolah Dasar (JMPSD) publishes scholarly articles derived from original researchconceptual studies, and community service activities in the field of basic education and elementary schools. The manuscript must align with the focus and scope of JMPSD, including but not limited to learning, curriculum, assessment, educational management, and innovation in elementary education.

All submitted manuscripts must be original, have never been published, and must not be under review or consideration by other journals.

Authors are required to register and submit manuscripts through the JMPSD Online Journal System (OJS) before the submission process.

2. Language and Submission Policy

Manuscripts may be written in:

  • Bahasa Indonesia, or

  • English

Accepted manuscripts may be published in Bahasa Indonesia or English, depending on editorial policy.

Authors are responsible for ensuring the clarity, accuracy, and academic quality of the language used.


3. Manuscript Format and Length

  • Paper size: A4

  • Line spacing: Single-spaced

  • Font: Times New Roman

  • Font size: 11 pt (body text)

  • Manuscript length: 6,000–8,000 words, including tables, figures, and references

  • File format: Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx) or RTF

  • Margins:

    • Top: 3 cm

    • Left: 2.5 cm

    • Right: 2.5 cm

    • Bottom: 2.5 cm

Authors must strictly follow the JMPSD template. Manuscripts that do not conform to the template and author guidelines will be rejected before peer review.


4. Review Process and Publication Ethics

All manuscripts submitted to JMPSD undergo a double-blind peer review process conducted by at least two independent reviewers.

Authors must ensure that:

  • The manuscript is free from plagiarism

  • The similarity index does not exceed 20% (checked using plagiarism detection software)

  • Ethical standards in research and publication are upheld


5. References and Citation Requirements

  • Minimum number of references: 20

  • At least 70% of references must be from reputable scientific journals

  • References should primarily be published within the last 10 years

  • Citation and reference style: APA 7th Edition

  • Authors are encouraged to use reference management software (Mendeley, Zotero, EndNote)


6. Language Editing

JMPSD requires manuscripts to meet academic language standards.

For English manuscripts, authors are advised to ensure proper grammar and academic style. Language editing does not guarantee acceptance, as editorial decisions are based on scientific merit, not language quality alone.

7. Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

To enhance discoverability, authors are encouraged to:

  • Include key terms in the article title

  • Avoid excessively long titles

  • Use 3–5 relevant keywords

  • Integrate keywords naturally in the abstract and main headings
