Abstract

Education is a complex and multifaceted process that not only emphasizes cognitive aspects but also fosters students’ morals, social values, and character. Effective educational tools are essential to achieve educational goals optimally. These include both material and non-material approaches. This study highlights that educational tools such as habituation, supervision, orders, prohibitions, affection, collaboration with parents, and role modeling play a crucial role in shaping students’ character. The research was conducted at SD Negeri 060786, Jl. Purwo, Perintis, Medan Timur District, Medan City, North Sumatra Province, on September 1, 2025. The study applied a qualitative descriptive approach. Interviews with elementary school teachers revealed that character education relies heavily on teachers’ roles as role models, their attitudes of affection, and strong communication with parents. However, to address the challenges of the digital era, classical methods need to be made more innovative. Therefore, EduCharacter Tools serve as a modern solution that combines classical values of character education with digital technology. These innovations include the implementation of positive discipline, digital reflection journals, participatory dashboards for parents, digital rewards for students, and adaptability to local culture. The results show that EduCharacter Tools can enhance the quality of character education, encourage active participation from students and parents, and remain relevant to meet the educational needs of Generation Z.
