This study aims to determine whether there is an effect of the Paikem Gembrot learning model on the ability to write descriptive texts of fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 106164 Sambirejo Timur. The method used was a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group design. The sample consisted of 46 students: class VA (22 students) as the experimental group and class VB (24 students) as the control group. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and tests. The instrument used in this study was a multiple-choice test to measure students’ ability in writing descriptive texts, and the validation results showed that 20 items were valid. The results showed that the average score of the experimental class increased from 54.5 (pretest) to 79.8 (posttest). Meanwhile, the control class showed a slight increase from 58.12 (pretest) to 68.75 (posttest). In the psychomotor assessment, students’ scores ranged from 70–80, indicating that they were able to write descriptive texts well. The affective assessment showed that overall students were in the very good category, demonstrating strong responsibility, cooperation, and self-confidence. The Independent Samples Test showed a significance value of 0.003 < 0.05, which means that Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. This indicates that the Paikem Gembrot learning model has a significant effect on the descriptive text writing ability of fifth-grade students.
