Abstract

The skills of opening and closing a lesson are an important part of the basic teaching skills that support the learning process, thereby creating readiness to learn and helping students understand the material better. This study aims to analyze the application of the skills of opening and closing a lesson in the context of microteaching in order to create a structured learning experience. The method used is library research with a descriptive qualitative approach. Secondary data from textbooks and scientific journals were analyzed using content analysis techniques. The results showed that effective lesson opening skills involve elements of attracting attention, providing motivation, giving references, and making connections so that students focus on the material to be learned. Meanwhile, learning closing skills are optimized through review, evaluation, and follow-up activities to ensure student understanding retention. It is concluded that the systematic and continuous mastery of these two skills can improve the effectiveness of educational interactions and the overall quality of learning.
