Abstract

This study aims to examine the utilization of batik and tenun motifs in teaching the perimeter and area of plane figures at SD Swasta HKBP Pardamean. The ethnomathematics approach is used as the basis for integrating local culture into mathematics learning to make the material more contextual and meaningful for students. The research method employed is qualitative, with data collection techniques including interviews, observations, and questionnaires conducted with fifth-grade students. The results show that using batik and tenun motifs as learning media can improve students' understanding of mathematical concepts, learning motivation, and engagement in the learning process. Additionally, this local cultural media fosters pride in the nation's cultural heritage. Despite challenges related to motif availability and instructional time, the use of batik and tenun motifs proves effective in supporting creative and enjoyable mathematics learning in line with the Merdeka Curriculum.
