AUTHORSHIP CRITERIA

Indonesia Sport Journal

Indonesia Sport Journal is committed to ensuring that authorship accurately reflects the intellectual contributions and responsibilities of individuals involved in the preparation and publication of scholarly manuscripts. All authors listed in a submitted manuscript must have made meaningful contributions to the research and must accept responsibility for the integrity and accuracy of the published work.

1. Criteria for Authorship

To qualify for authorship in Indonesia Sport Journal, an individual must meet all of the following criteria:

  1. Substantial Contribution: Make a substantial contribution to the conception or design of the study, data collection, data analysis, interpretation of findings, or development of the research framework.

  2. Writing and Intellectual Review: Participate in drafting the manuscript or critically reviewing it for important intellectual content.

  3. Final Approval: Approve the final version of the manuscript before submission or publication.

  4. Accountability: Agree to be accountable for the individual's own contributions and to help ensure that questions concerning the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.

All individuals who meet these criteria should be recognized as authors. Individuals who do not meet all the criteria should not be listed as authors solely because of their position, seniority, funding contribution, or institutional affiliation.

2. Corresponding Author Responsibilities

The corresponding author is responsible for coordinating communication between the authors and the editorial office throughout the submission, peer-review, revision, and publication processes.

The corresponding author must:

  • Ensure that all listed authors have approved the submitted manuscript and its final version.

  • Confirm that all authors meet the journal's authorship criteria.

  • Provide accurate author names, affiliations, and contact information.

  • Ensure that all co-authors are informed about the submission and editorial decisions.

  • Disclose relevant funding sources and actual or potential conflicts of interest.

  • Ensure that the manuscript is original and is not simultaneously under consideration by another journal.

  • Coordinate responses to reviewers' comments and editorial requests.

The corresponding author must not include individuals who have not contributed sufficiently to qualify for authorship or omit individuals who meet the authorship criteria.

3. Order of Authors

The order of authors should be determined collectively by all authors before manuscript submission, based on their respective contributions and the agreement of the research team.

Indonesia Sport Journal does not prescribe a universal order of authorship for all disciplines. Authors are responsible for agreeing on the order and ensuring that it fairly represents their contributions.

Any request to add, remove, or reorder authors after submission must be accompanied by a written explanation and the agreement of all affected authors. The change is subject to editorial approval.

4. Contributors Who Do Not Qualify for Authorship

Individuals who contribute to a study but do not meet all authorship criteria should be acknowledged in the Acknowledgments section, where appropriate and with their permission.

Examples include individuals who provide administrative assistance, general supervision, funding acquisition, technical support, language editing, proofreading, or other limited services without making a qualifying intellectual contribution.

Acknowledgment must accurately describe the nature of each person's contribution and must not be used as a substitute for appropriate authorship.

5. Research Integrity and Accountability

All authors are jointly responsible for maintaining the integrity of the research and publication process. Authors must ensure that the manuscript presents research findings honestly and accurately, with appropriate citations and transparent reporting of methods and results.

Fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, duplicate publication, inappropriate authorship attribution, and other forms of research or publication misconduct are unacceptable.

Authors must disclose relevant financial and non-financial conflicts of interest and identify all sources of financial or institutional support for the research.

6. Use of Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence (AI) tools, including generative AI systems, cannot be listed as authors because they cannot assume responsibility or accountability for scholarly work.

Authors who use AI tools in preparing a manuscript must disclose such use in accordance with the journal's applicable policies. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, citations, interpretation, and integrity of all submitted content, including material produced or assisted by AI tools.

AI tools must not be used to fabricate research data, invent references, misrepresent findings, or conceal the actual contributions of authors.

7. Changes to Authorship

Requests to add, remove, or change the order of authors after submission must be justified in writing and approved by all affected authors. The editorial office may request additional documentation before making a decision.

If a dispute arises concerning authorship or author contributions, the journal may suspend editorial processing while the matter is clarified. Where necessary, the journal may refer the matter to the relevant institutions for investigation.

8. Declaration of Authorship

By submitting a manuscript to Indonesia Sport Journal, the corresponding author confirms that:

  • All listed authors meet the journal's authorship criteria.

  • All authors have approved the submitted version of the manuscript.

  • All authors agree to be accountable for their contributions and the integrity of the work.

  • No eligible contributor has been improperly excluded from authorship.

  • All relevant conflicts of interest and sources of support have been disclosed.

  • The manuscript complies with the journal's publication ethics requirements.

Indonesia Sport Journal reserves the right to request clarification or supporting documentation when questions arise concerning authorship, contributorship, or research integrity.

9. Editorial Policy

The editorial team evaluates authorship declarations as part of its commitment to transparency, fairness, and responsible scholarly publishing. Authorship decisions should reflect actual intellectual contributions rather than academic rank, employment position, funding status, or personal relationships.

These criteria are intended to ensure fair recognition of scholarly contributions and to maintain the credibility and integrity of research published in Indonesia Sport Journal.
