MANUSCRIPT TYPES

Indonesia Sport Journal

Indonesia Sport Journal accepts original scholarly manuscripts that are relevant to the journal's focus and scope and make meaningful contributions to the advancement of sport sciences. The journal considers two primary manuscript types: Original Research Articles and Review Articles.

1. Original Research Articles

Original Research Articles report new findings obtained through systematic scientific investigation using appropriate research methods. These articles should demonstrate originality and contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge or professional practice in sports and related disciplines.

The journal welcomes quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods research, including experimental and quasi-experimental studies, surveys, correlational and observational studies, action research, and research and development studies.

Relevant topics include physical education, sports coaching, athletic performance, exercise physiology, physical fitness, sports psychology, biomechanics, sports management, physical activity, recreational sports, and related fields.

Original Research Articles generally include the following sections:

  • Introduction

  • Methods

  • Results

  • Discussion

  • Conclusion

  • References

2. Review Articles

Review Articles provide critical analysis, synthesis, and evaluation of existing research to develop a deeper understanding of a specific topic in sport sciences.

Submissions must have a clearly defined review objective, a transparent and scientifically justified literature search and selection process, and a meaningful scholarly contribution. Reviews should identify patterns in existing findings, research gaps, limitations of the available evidence, and directions for future research rather than merely summarizing previous studies.

The journal may consider the following review types:

  • Systematic Reviews

  • Meta-Analyses

  • Scoping Reviews

  • Integrative Reviews

  • Critical Narrative Reviews

Review Articles generally include the following sections:

  • Introduction

  • Review Methods

  • Results or Evidence Synthesis

  • Discussion

  • Conclusion

  • References

Authors should follow appropriate reporting guidelines, such as PRISMA for systematic reviews and PRISMA-ScR for scoping reviews, where applicable.

3. General Submission Requirements

All submitted manuscripts must:

  1. Be original scholarly works that have not been previously published and are not under consideration by another journal.

  2. Align with the aims and scope of Indonesia Sport Journal.

  3. Demonstrate clear novelty, relevance, and scholarly contribution.

  4. Employ appropriate, transparent, and scientifically justified research or review methods.

  5. Present findings, analyses, and discussions supported by scientific evidence.

  6. Comply with research ethics, publication ethics, and authorship requirements.

  7. Include relevant scholarly references and follow the journal's author guidelines.

4. Manuscript Types Not Considered

Indonesia Sport Journal does not prioritize unsupported opinion pieces, news articles, popular reviews, standalone conference abstracts, book reviews, letters to the editor, or research proposals without completed findings, unless these categories are specifically permitted by the editorial policy.

5. Editorial Assessment

All submissions undergo an initial editorial screening to assess their relevance to the journal's scope, originality, scientific quality, methodological appropriateness, and compliance with the author guidelines.

Manuscripts that meet the initial requirements may proceed to peer review in accordance with the journal's editorial policy. Compliance with the manuscript-type requirements does not guarantee acceptance. The final publication decision rests with the editor and is based on the manuscript's scholarly quality and evaluation outcomes.
