PEER REVIEW PROCESS

Indonesia Sport Journal

1. Submission of Manuscripts

Authors are required to submit manuscripts that align with the aims and scope of Indonesia Sport Journal and comply with the journal's author guidelines. All manuscripts must be submitted through the journal's online submission system. Submitted manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration for publication elsewhere.

2. Initial Editorial Screening

All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial screening by the editor to assess their relevance to the journal's focus and scope, compliance with the author guidelines, completeness of the manuscript, originality, and general scientific quality.

The editorial screening also evaluates the appropriateness of the research methodology, the clarity of the research objectives, and compliance with research and publication ethics. Manuscripts that do not meet the journal's requirements may be returned to the authors for correction or rejected without external review.

3. Plagiarism and Research Ethics Screening

Manuscripts that pass the initial editorial screening are checked for similarity and potential plagiarism using appropriate similarity-detection tools. Authors must ensure that all sources, ideas, data, and previously published findings are properly acknowledged.

The journal does not tolerate plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, duplicate publication, or other forms of research and publication misconduct. Research involving human participants must comply with applicable ethical standards, including informed consent and confidentiality where relevant.

4. Double-Blind Peer Review

Indonesia Sport Journal applies a double-blind peer-review system, in which the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from each other throughout the review process.

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to independent reviewers with relevant expertise in sports science, physical education, sports coaching, sports management, sports health, or other related disciplines.

Normally, at least two qualified reviewers are invited to evaluate each manuscript. Reviewers assess the manuscript based on the following criteria:

  1. Originality and novelty of the research.

  2. Relevance to the aims and scope of Indonesia Sport Journal.

  3. Significance and contribution to the development of sports science and practice.

  4. Appropriateness and rigor of the research methodology.

  5. Accuracy of data analysis and interpretation of findings.

  6. Validity of conclusions and consistency with the research results.

  7. Quality of the literature review and relevance of references.

  8. Clarity, organization, and academic quality of the manuscript.

  9. Compliance with research ethics and publication integrity.

Reviewers are expected to provide objective, confidential, constructive, and evidence-based feedback to help authors improve their manuscripts.

5. Editorial Decisions

Based on the reviewers' reports and the editor's assessment, the manuscript may receive one of the following decisions:

  • Accept: The manuscript is accepted for publication without substantial revisions.

  • Minor Revision: The manuscript requires limited revisions before acceptance.

  • Major Revision: The manuscript requires substantial revisions and may be returned to the reviewers for further evaluation.

  • Reject: The manuscript does not meet the journal's standards for originality, scientific quality, methodological rigor, relevance, or ethical compliance.

The final publication decision rests with the Editor-in-Chief or the designated editor. Reviewers provide recommendations, but the final decision is made by the editorial team.

6. Manuscript Revision

Authors who receive a revision decision must revise their manuscripts according to the reviewers' and editor's comments. Authors are expected to provide a point-by-point response explaining how each comment has been addressed.

If the authors disagree with a reviewer's recommendation, they should provide a clear and academically justified explanation. Revised manuscripts may be returned to the original reviewers or evaluated by the editor, depending on the extent of the revisions required.

Failure to submit the revised manuscript within the specified period, without prior communication with the editor, may result in the manuscript being withdrawn from further consideration.

7. Final Evaluation and Acceptance

After the revision process, the editor evaluates the revised manuscript and the authors' responses to the reviewers' comments. Manuscripts requiring substantial revisions may undergo another round of peer review.

A manuscript is accepted only when the editor determines that it meets the journal's scientific, editorial, and ethical standards. Acceptance does not automatically mean immediate publication, as the manuscript must proceed through the journal's production process.

8. Copyediting, Proofreading, and Publication

Accepted manuscripts undergo copyediting, formatting, and proofreading to ensure consistency with the journal's publication standards. Authors may be asked to review the final proofs and correct typographical or formatting errors before publication.

Substantive changes to the accepted manuscript require editorial approval. Following completion of the production process, the article is published in the appropriate issue of Indonesia Sport Journal.

9. Confidentiality and Conflict of Interest

All manuscripts submitted to Indonesia Sport Journal are treated as confidential documents. Editors and reviewers must not disclose, reproduce, distribute, or use unpublished information from submitted manuscripts for personal or professional advantage.

Editors and reviewers must disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest that could affect their impartiality. Individuals with conflicts of interest may be excluded from the evaluation process and replaced by independent reviewers.

10. Publication Ethics and Accountability

Indonesia Sport Journal is committed to maintaining academic integrity, fairness, transparency, and accountability throughout the peer-review and publication processes.

Any suspected plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, duplicate submission, or other research misconduct will be investigated in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policies. Appropriate action will be taken when misconduct is established.

The journal strives to ensure that every editorial decision is based on scientific merit, originality, relevance, methodological quality, and ethical compliance, without discrimination based on the authors' personal characteristics, institutional affiliations, or geographical backgrounds.

11. Estimated Review Timeline

The duration of the review process depends on reviewer availability, manuscript quality, the extent of revisions required, and editorial workload. Authors will be informed of important developments through the journal's online submission system.

The journal aims to conduct the review process efficiently while maintaining rigorous scholarly standards. Any estimated processing times published by the journal should reflect its actual editorial workflow.

12. Final Editorial Authority

The Editor-in-Chief has final responsibility for editorial decisions concerning manuscript acceptance, revision, or rejection. Such decisions are based on reviewers' recommendations, the manuscript's scientific quality, its relevance to the journal's scope, and compliance with publication ethics.

The peer-review process is designed to improve manuscript quality, maintain scientific credibility, and ensure that published articles contribute meaningfully to the advancement of sports science and related disciplines.
