PROOFREADING POLICY

Indonesia Sport Journal (ISJ)

1. Purpose

Indonesia Sport Journal (ISJ) implements a proofreading process to ensure that all articles are accurate, clear, consistent, and professionally presented before publication. Proofreading is an essential stage of the publication process and supports the journal's commitment to academic quality, publication integrity, and professional editorial standards.

2. Proofreading Responsibilities

Proofreading is carried out by the authors, particularly the corresponding author, in coordination with the editorial team and layout editor. Authors are responsible for reviewing and approving the final proof of their manuscripts before publication.

The proofreading process focuses on the following aspects:

  1. Typographical errors, spelling, punctuation, and grammatical accuracy.

  2. Formatting and layout, including headings, tables, figures, and captions.

  3. Accuracy of author names, institutional affiliations, acknowledgments, and funding information.

  4. Consistency and accuracy of in-text citations and reference lists.

  5. Accuracy of mathematical expressions, statistical symbols, units of measurement, and other technical details.

  6. Completeness, readability, and overall presentation of the final article.

3. Author Proofreading Procedure

When the final proof is available, the editorial team will notify the corresponding author. Authors must carefully review the proof and submit any corrections through the communication channel or proofreading system designated by the journal.

Authors are required to:

  • Review the entire proof against the accepted manuscript.

  • Clearly identify each correction and indicate its location.

  • Verify the accuracy of author names, affiliations, tables, figures, citations, and references.

  • Return the corrected proof within the deadline specified by the editorial team.

If no corrections are necessary, the corresponding author must confirm approval of the proof.

4. Limitations on Corrections

Proofreading is primarily intended to correct typographical, formatting, and production errors. Substantial changes to the title, authorship, research methods, data, results, conclusions, or other scientific content are generally not permitted at this stage.

Any request for a substantive change must be accompanied by a clear justification and approved by the Editor-in-Chief. Changes to authorship require appropriate justification and agreement from all affected authors, in accordance with the journal's authorship policy.

5. Editorial and Production Responsibilities

The editorial team and layout editor are responsible for implementing approved corrections and ensuring that the final article complies with the journal's formatting standards.

The editorial team may return a proof to the authors for clarification if corrections are unclear, incomplete, or inconsistent. The journal retains responsibility for the final publication decision and production process.

6. Publication Approval and Deadlines

Publication may proceed after the corresponding author has reviewed the proof or confirmed approval, subject to the journal's production schedule and editorial requirements.

Authors must return corrections within the deadline communicated by the editorial team. Failure to respond within the specified period may delay publication. If no response is received, the journal may proceed in accordance with its established production procedures after providing reasonable notification to the corresponding author.

7. Authors' Final Responsibility

Authors remain responsible for the accuracy of the scientific content and all corrections they approve. Proofreading does not replace peer review, scientific validation, or the authors' obligation to comply with research integrity and publication ethics standards.

8. Policy Review

Indonesia Sport Journal may periodically review and update this policy to maintain the quality, consistency, and integrity of its publication process.
