Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using the Know, Want Know, Learn (KWL) learning method on improving fifth-grade students' science learning outcomes at SD IT Zahra Asy Syifa on the topic of the human digestive system. This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The study sample consisted of two classes: V-C (20 students) as the experimental class using the Know, Want, Know, Learn (KWL) learning method, and V-D (18 students) as the control class using conventional learning methods. Data collection techniques included observation, learning achievement tests, and documentation. The data obtained were analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and hypothesis testing. The results showed that the use of the Know, Want Know, Learn (KWL) learning method significantly influenced students' science learning outcomes. This is indicated by the average post-test score for the experimental class, which was 85.05, and the control class, which was 75.94. Based on the results of the t-test (Independent Samples t-test), a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.001 was obtained. Because the significance value is less than 0.05 (0.001 < 0.05), Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. This indicates a significant difference between the learning outcomes of the experimental and control classes after using the Know Want To Know Learned (KWL) learning method.
