Use of AI Tools in Manuscript Preparation
Jurnal Merah Putih Pendidikan Dasar (JMPSD) acknowledges that AI Tools can support and enhance the quality of manuscripts, particularly in the field of elementary education research. Authors are permitted to use AI Tools to assist in manuscript preparation for purposes such as:
-
Improving language quality and readability
-
Summarizing relevant literature
-
Organizing ideas or structuring initial drafts
However, the use of AI Tools must not replace human intellectual contribution, critical thinking, academic judgment, and scholarly responsibility. AI Tools must always be used under the full supervision and control of the authors.
Authors’ Primary Responsibilities
Authors bear full responsibility and accountability for the entire content of the submitted manuscript. This includes, but is not limited to:
1. Verification of Accuracy
Authors must carefully review, validate, and verify all AI-generated outputs, including facts, data, references, and citations. Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy and reliability of all sources, as AI-generated references may be incorrect or fabricated.
2. Original Contribution
All content must be thoroughly edited and adapted to reflect the authors’ original academic contribution, including their own analysis, interpretation, and conclusions. Manuscripts must not consist of unmodified AI-generated text.
3. Transparency (Disclosure)
Authors must clearly disclose the use of AI Tools during the manuscript submission process and within the manuscript itself.
4. Data Security and Ethics
Authors must ensure that the use of AI Tools complies with data privacy regulations, intellectual property rights, and ethical standards by reviewing the terms and conditions of each AI Tool used.
Authorship
AI Tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors. Authorship entails responsibilities that can only be fulfilled by humans, including accountability for the integrity and accuracy of the research and approval of the final manuscript version.
Disclosure Statement
Authors are required to include a separate AI Usage Disclosure Statement at the end of the manuscript (before the reference list), which must specify:
-
The name(s) of the AI Tool(s) used (e.g., ChatGPT, Grammarly)
-
The purpose of use (e.g., language editing, initial draft organization)
-
A brief explanation of how the authors supervised, reviewed, and validated the AI-generated output
Note: The use of basic tools for grammar, spelling, and punctuation checking does not need to be disclosed.
Use of AI Tools in Figures, Images, and Artwork
Jurnal Merah Putih Pendidikan Dasar (JMPSD) does not permit the use of AI Tools to generate, manipulate, or alter images, figures, or artwork in submitted manuscripts. This includes enhancing, obscuring, adding, removing, or modifying any elements within an image.
Exception
The use of AI Tools is permitted only when AI constitutes an integral part of the research methodology itself (e.g., AI-based learning analytics or educational technology studies). In such cases, the use of AI must be clearly described in a transparent, detailed, and reproducible manner within the Methods section.
